YOUTH WORKS

The first drawings that Eva has kept date back to 1953, when she was 9 years old, and the oldest paintings to 1957. I remember looking at them 40 years ago rather superficially and without reacting particularly. But when I took them out of the attic a few months ago, they appeared to me in a new light, revealing to me in germ form the talent and uniqueness of Eva as an artist. I was discovering how she had flourished over those 40 years, how she had developed, and what she had created was a natural extension of that early work. This moved me deeply, and that's why I wanted to suggest a few to close this site. Yes, they are childish drawings, naive and fresh, but well executed. They testify that as a child and young girl, Eva had a good stroke of a pencil, an imagination and a wide-eyed outlook on the world and the people around her. We read there stories featuring well-established characters in well-defined, realistic, romantic, sometimes dramatic and often humorous situations. We also noticed on several occasions his great dream: Paris. Eva as herself. As for oils, they show more his interest in anatomy, colors and light.
